Human hair extensions no longer receive nutrients from the scalp, so they need a little more attention than your own hair. With proper care, our Remy and Double Drawn Virgin weaves last up to one year, and our Grandma weave up to two years.
Washing
- Detangle before washing with a wide-tooth comb, working from the ends up to the root.
- Use a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and lukewarm water, never hot.
- Wash in the direction of growth, without rubbing or tangling. Do not wash upside down.
- Apply conditioner to the lengths and ends, avoiding the wefts and the root.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove any residue.
Washing every one to two weeks is usually enough, depending on how you wear it and which styling products you use.
Drying
- Gently squeeze out water with a towel – pat, do not wring.
- Air-dry whenever possible. If you use a hairdryer, choose a low temperature.
- Never go to bed with wet hair: it tangles and the wefts stay damp.
Styling
Our Indian hair can be straightened, waved and coloured just like your own hair. To protect it:
- Always apply a heat protectant before using a straightener, curling iron or hairdryer.
- Set your tools to a moderate temperature and avoid going over the same section repeatedly.
- For defined curls, shape curly hair with your fingers while damp rather than brushing it.
- A few drops of hair oil on the ends nourish and add shine.
At night and in storage
- At night, tie your hair in a loose braid or low ponytail and protect it with a satin scarf or bonnet, or sleep on a satin pillowcase.
- Store a wig clean and completely dry on a stand or in its packaging, away from dust and sunlight.
- Keep unused bundles flat or rolled up in a dry place.
Mistakes to avoid
- Brushing wet hair from the root.
- Using products containing alcohol, which dry out the hair.
- Too much heat without protection.
- Neglecting your own hair and scalp under the weave.
