Welcome to the world of aromatic basil or osime from Cameroon! Our dried herbs are carefully selected and dried to ensure they retain their quality and flavour.
Basil or osime is often used as a seasoning in African cuisine and has a distinctive, refreshing flavour that peps up dishes such as salads, soups, stews and sauces. It is also a popular ingredient in teas and cocktails.
Our dried basil or osime leaves are easy to use and can be used in a variety of recipes. For example, use them to add more flavour to your favourite pesto, or add them to a tomato sauce for a touch of freshness.
Try this simple recipe for a delicious tomato sauce with dried basil or osime:
Ingredients:
2 cloves of garlic, chopped
1 can chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried basil or Osime
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon sugar to reduce the acidity of the tomatoes.
Instructions:
Heat a pan over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Fry it for 1-2 minutes until it becomes fragrant.
Add the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste and stir well.
Add the dried basil or osime and season with salt and pepper. If the tomatoes are too sour, you can also add sugar.
Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes until it has thickened a little.
Taste and season if necessary.
Serve the tomato sauce over pasta, as a dip or as a side dish with meat dishes.
Try our dried basil or osime from Cameroon today and give your dishes the extra kick they deserve!
