Wintergreen essential oil comes from the distillation of the stems of the wintergreen shrub, which is mainly found in Nepal, China or Canada. It grows at high altitudes and prefers cold regions. This oil consists mainly of methyl salicylate, which is a very good, 100% natural painkiller.
It takes about 100 kg of flowers to obtain 2 kg of essential oil.Wintergreen essential oil is known for its strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is therefore very commonly used for muscle, joint or tendon pain in athletes as well as lumbago, back pain, sciatica, arthritis, rheumatism, gout attacks. It is also used for intense period pains.
